An Analysis of Changes and Themes in Delinquency and Aggression of Children in Crisis of Family Disorganization through Sandplay Therapy

Abstract
This study aimed to provide sandplay therapy for the children who experienced a crisis of family disorganization and showed externalizing problem behaviors in juvenile delinquency and aggression and to examine the reduction of such externalizing problem behaviors and effects of treatment. This study analyzed before-and-after changes in externalizing problem behaviors in juvenile delinquency and aggression by the pre and post K-CBCL (Korean Version of Child Behavior Checklist) in order to investigate the effect of treatment. In addition, this study analyzed the content subject appeared in the process of sandplay therapy and changing process of theme of wound and healing by component based on the theme analysis of sandplay therapy by R. R. Mitchell & H. S. Friedman. The results are as follows. First, as a result of analysis by the pre and post K-CBCL in order to investigate the effect of treatment, the results showed that sandplay therapy was effective to reduce externalizing problem behaviors in juvenile delinquency of children in crisis of family disorganization. Second, the content subject appeared in the process of sandplay therapy for children in crisis of family disorganization showed positive changes such as a decrease in theme of wound and increase in theme of healing (transformation). The positive effects of sandplay therapy were proved by healing their psychological difficulties based on themselves enhanced by the process of achieving their inner growth.
